Testimonials

Site Specific Training and Assessment - Jon made our training interesting, fun and enjoyable. He kept everything to the right level for the people he was instructing which made the training really engaging. Although Jon was with us for 8 hours - it felt like no time at all. I'm looking forward to working with Jon again in the future on my CWA. Thanks Jon - you're awesome!

Since installing our new climbing wall in 2013 we have worked closely with Jon and his team at ATNE. The help and instruction we have had has been excellent. The training is constructive and relevant to teaching larger groups on the wall safely, but most importantly it is also made fun. Jon has also been in to work with our sixth form BTec Sport pupils, helping them to become Supervisors on the wall. They have all really really enjoyed the sessions. His manner with both staff and pupils is very calming and reassuring in what can be a stressful situation. We have certainly enjoyed working with ATNE and will definitely be continuing to do so in the future. Many thanks for a brilliant service. ,

Jon is fantastic with students of all ages. He inspires them to give of their best, demanding high standards at all times whilst ensuring that they are having fun. When delivering professional courses Jon is incredibly clear and thorough. He never assumes any knowledge yet is never patronising. At the end of the course you feel fully prepared for the next step. Definitely the best of the many outdoor instructors that I’ve worked with.

'ATNE's dedication, good humour and flexibilityhave been exemplary, allowing numerous students to achieve and then exceed their goals. This would not have happened without Jon and Caroline. Many, many thanks.

Ben Anderson - Assistant Head Teacher, St Cuthbert's Catholic High School, Newcastle upon Tyne.

In March 2016 a small group of students took part in a 2 day expedition with ATNE as part of our AS level PE practical assessment. Prior to this there were four training days in which we received high quality instruction on skills necessary to complete our expedition, including navigation, equipment use and basic survival skills. These skills proved invaluable in our assessment and will continue to do so throughout the rest of our lives. ATNE provided us with an enjoyable and insightful experience that helped us score very highly in our practical grades and will be remembered for years to come. Because of the experience and professionalism of the instructors at ATNE (Jon and Caroline) we have chosen to work with them again to be assessed on a three day expedition as part of our practical grade for A Level PE.

'I took a group of year 11 GCSE PE students to be assessed in orienteering. The day was extremely well organised and delivered by professional staff who created a challenging environment for the students to perform. The group really enjoyed the experience'

Rob Atherton - PE Teacher, Venerable Bede CE Academy, Sunderland

I engaged with Jon from Adventure Training North East in Sept 2016. We had a brilliant experience! We asked Jon and Caroline to deliver a range of high energy team based activities on behalf of a corporate client- mostly middle and senior managers. Very impressed in particular with their ability to link outdoor fun activities with the workplace. Their ability to evaluate each activity in detail and help delegates set this learning in a work context was very impressive. Highly recommended and thanks again.

Martin Magennis - TIME Associates

Both Jon and Caroline are outstanding professionals, thorough in their preparation and delivery. Understanding and sympathetic to all students needs and yet challenge all students to excel. A fantastic company, who I regularly use and will continue to do so.

“ATNE deliver excellent personalised staff training sessions which are delivered in a professional but relaxed way. Jon has delivered training sessions for Newcastle College Sport and Uniformed Public Services staff on our indoor climbing wall and site specific training for ghyll scrambling at Ashgill. Jon’s approach to the training is excellent and staff have been well supported and comfortable while being instructed and assessed by Jon. ATNE have always been flexible to our needs and requirements.”

Myself and my two sons have done multiple climbing trips, both week-long trips to Spain and day trips to the Lake District and Northumberland with Jon. Jon is an excellent climbing instructor. His guidance has been crucial for myself in developing as a climber. In all occasions the primary focus is on safety and doing things right. This is something that couldn't be more important when it comes to climbing. Jon has been working on each our development as climbers individually, which can be sometimes really hard with very different goals. Each time, we have gone climbing we have all reached our goals and felt that we have learnt a lot - in our different target areas. Jon's knowledge is vast. He knows both Spain and Northumberland crags inside and out. He knows when and how to push people to their limits without overdoing it. Jon is great at communicating his knowledge and makes sure he passes the information on the climbs to us afterwards. He together with his wife Caroline are providing experiences in a methodological manner, safely and in such a way that every time something gets learnt. Recommend them any time! Thanks so much for all guidance this far on our climbers' journey!

KC - Mum and climber, with two very enthusiastic and talented climbing sons.

'Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for the climbing trip you organised for my sister to the climbing wall and also to the crag. She had a wonderful time and we were really happy with everything about it - you were absolutely brilliant and have really reignited her interest in climbing!'

Jennifer - Wall to Rock - Climbing Course

After being recommended by his school my son did his practice ‘Open’ Silver D of E expedition this summer with ATNE and then in October he took part in his Qualifying expedition with a larger group from his school. Adventure Training North East was a great recommendation, from my first communication with Jon Chamberlain right through to Qualification. With school run expeditions it is easier to feel more relaxed about safety and support in numbers etc, but I can honestly say that Jon’s regular communication, quick response to queries and kit advice etc was very reassuring and didn't prove otherwise throughout both expeditions. My Son clearly enjoyed both expeditions, with Jon’s teaching and guidance. I would highly recommend ATNE to anyone else and wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future. Sounds like they do an amazing variety of experiences, how lucky to have this provision on our doorstep.

I took part in a 2 day Outdoor First Aid course with ATNE in November 2017. This was my 4th first aid course but the first time I had gone with ATNE, and they are a breath of fresh air. They have the ability to turn a mundane topic into something exciting and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and found the stories and anecdotes very useful in helping me remember the course content. Jon and Caroline both made me feel welcome and created a positive learning environment for the whole class. I would highly recommend them for the first aid course but have no doubt that the same level of professional competency is instilled in all their courses.

Christopher Smith - Manager, Beamish Wild, County Durham

ATNE provide a professional service which is always tailored expertly to the needs of our students. I can't recommend them highly enough.
