As a Mountaineering Instructor Jon Chamberlain is qualified to provide Site Specific Training and Assessment for a range of mountain based activities. He does this as a Technical Adviser for many organisations across the UK, delivering training on climbing walls, outdoor crags, ghylls, scrambles and walks.
If staff work to an agreed standard operating procedure, are well trained and assessed by a Technical Adviser, they can be responsible for groups and individuals doing activities beyond the qualifications they hold.
Where this type of service is most often required is on indoor climbing walls. If you have invested in a climbing wall for your school, sports centre or youth club, you will want to use it. Gaining qualifications (CWA / SPA) is time consuming and expensive, and probably only likely to be a pathway for the dedicated climber. Adventure Training North East can provide a training and assessment course for your staff who will gain a Site Specific Sign-off to deliver bouldering and bottom roping on a 1:6 Ratio at your Wall. As part of this service you will receive a Standard Operating Procedure / Risk Assessment for your Climbing Wall. This is a 12 month sign-off, which will require an annual re-assessment
Costs:
6 x staff trained => £250 - additional overnight and mileage costs may apply.
12 x staff trained => £395 - additional overnight and mileage costs may apply.

Since installing our new climbing wall in 2013 we have worked closely with Jon and his team at ATNE. The help and instruction we have had has been excellent. The training is constructive and relevant to teaching larger groups on the wall safely, but most importantly it is also made fun. Jon has also been in to work with our sixth form BTec Sport pupils, helping them to become Supervisors on the wall. They have all really really enjoyed the sessions. His manner with both staff and pupils is very calming and reassuring in what can be a stressful situation. We have certainly enjoyed working with ATNE and will definitely be continuing to do so in the future. Many thanks for a brilliant service. ,
