Hill Walking

ATNE's experienced mountain leaders and mountain instructors will be pleased to help you discover the magic of the hills and mountains of northern England. We have a detailed knowledge of the fells of Northumberland, Yorkshire and the Lake District. We will guide you safely and confidently on your chosen objective, whether it is the Three Peaks Challenge, a trip up Scafell, or a day out developing navigation or scrambling skills.

We are often asked to help with navigation skills. This could be an informal look at map and compass work, bearings, pacing, timing etc. We try to meet your objectives and find the most suitable area in which to work. If you prefer the motivation of a syllabus and the lure of qualifications then the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) could be for you.

For some, it is the challenge of scrambling and the uncertainty of how to use a rope to protect a route that our clients want help with. The Lake District has some magnificent scrambling on which we can 'show you the ropes' and extend the terrain through which you can confidently journey.

Sponsored walk? DofE training and assessment? A mountain challenge that you need help with? New skills needed? Old skills need refreshing?

Jon and Caroline are great they are always smiling and so, so positive even in all that rain. They are just the type of people you want when you are tired and hungry, your feet are sore and you still have an hour to camp.
