The Climbing Wall Instructor course trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on purpose built artificial climbing walls and boulders. It is ideal for people who work at climbing walls or at venues with permanent or mobile climbing towers.
ATNE are a Provider of the Climbing Wall Instructor Training and Assessment courses for Mountain Training England. We run 'open' courses which are advertised below and on the Mountain Training Association website.
The course Director will be Jon Chamberlain, a highly experience Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (MCI). Jon is also a climbing Development Coach.
There is also an optional Abseil Module (often run in conjunction with the Climbing Wall Instructor course) which is all about supervising abseiling in climbing walls.
The Climbing Wall Instructor course does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.
We are also able to deliver 'bespoke' courses for organisations at a discounted price. Contact us for details and to arrange dates etc.

Courses use a minimum of two local climbing walls. They typically start at 9.30am and finish at 4.30pm. They are non-residential.
Ratio: 1:4 => 1:6
Duration: 2 days (12 hours)
Costs: £160 per person
Ratio: 1:2 => 1:4
Duration: 1 day (6hours)
Cost: £120 per person
This is generally 'bolted' onto a Climbing Wall Instructor Training or Assessment course.
Ratio: 1:4 => 1:6
Duration: Training 4 hours; Assessment 2 hours
Cost: Training: £80; Assessment £60
